Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [A is formula II (R2 and R3 are H or alkyl, phenyl or benzyl which may contain halogen or alkyl as substituent group), formula III (R4 and R5 are as same as R2 and R3 from which H is excepted); R1 is lower alkyl which may contain halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, cycloalkyl]. EXAMPLE:3,3''-Dimethyl-4-ethoxy-4'-amino-4''-methylaminotriphenylmethane. USE:A precursor of methine based pigment useful as a pressure sensitive recording material or heat sensitive recording material, capable of producing the methine pigment exhibiting reddish dark color or color near black color. PREPARATION:A compound expressed by formula IV is heated with a compound expressed by formula V or formula IV in a polar organic solvent such as methanol and under acidic condition with a mineral acid at 50-100 deg.C for >=20hr in the compound expressed by formula V or for >=1hr in the compound expressed by formula VI in order to subject to condensation to readily provide the compound expressed by formula I.
