Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS4748106
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
982,906. Concentrating solutions by freezing. PHILLIPS PETROLEUM CO. June 12, 1963 [July 2, 1962]. No. 23384/63. Heading F4H. In a process of the type in which crystals and mother liquor are passed from a chilling zone 14 successively through a filtering zone 25, from which a mother liquor is withdrawn through line 31, a reflux zone 24 and a melt zone 27 the rate of heat introduction to the latter zone is varied in response to the temperature of the melt. The temperature of the melt in product line 34 is maintained constant by a thermocouple 53 which transmits a signal to a controller 52 and the latter operates a device 51 to vary the current supplied to an electric heater 33 in the melt zone. The line 34 also includes a valve 46 which is regulated to give a constant flow rate of the product by a controller 47 responsive to the pressure drop across an orifice 48 in line 34. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) the heater 33 is replaced by a coil through which water heated by steam in a heat-exchanger is circulated, the rate of flow of steam being regulated in response to the temperature in the melt zone. Alternatively a single heating fluid whose rate of flow is varied as above is employed. Examples of flow rates, temperatures and concentrations of specific liquids are given. Specification 807,100 is referred to.
