Abstract:
1.233,625. Internal-shoe drum brakes. HEEMAF S.K.A.-MOTORENWERK A.G. 24 Feb., 1939 [1 March, 1968], No. 9773/69. Heading F2E. An electromagnetically releasable brake comprises a brake drum, a concentric annular magnetic body 2, circumferentially extending leafsprings 13 carrying on their free ends magnetic armatures 15 and brake shoes 16, means 7 which limit the movement of the shoes and means attaching the longitudinally central regions of the springs and the stroke limiting means to the magnetic body. The drum rotates and the body 2 containing a coil in a groove 3 is fixed. The brakes can also be retracted by a steel cable 32 in a groove 31 in the shoes. The ends of the cable extend over a rounded portion 33b of means 7 and are attached to the ends of a U-shaped member 34 which is moved axially to release the brakes.
