Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS4841210
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
1292349 Photographic diffusion transfer INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORP 12 Jan 1970 [13 Jan 1969] 1455/70 Addition to 1230182 Heading G2C Photographic elements for diffusion transfer processes contain graft copolymers of one of the formulae: (in which Z is an organic polymeric backbone unit having repeating units capable of being oxidized by transition metal ions having an oxidation potential of at least one volt when it is reduced to the next lower stable state; each X is optionally substituted carboxamido, carbamyl, sulphonamide or sulphamyl; each R is H or 1-5C alkyl; K is a monomer unit; M is at least one; P is greater than 1; Q and T are at least 2 and denote a plurality of the respective side chains; N is equal to or greater than zero; N is not zero and K is not identical with -CH 2 -CXR- when X is carboxamido or carbamyl and Z is polyvinyl alcohol. The element comprises a support, at least 2 silver halide emulsion layers sensitive to different coloured light and associated with a dye image-forming material, and an interlayer comprising the graft copolymer. Specified graft copolymers are DAA/AA, DAA/acrylonitrile, AA/ion AA, DAA/Vac, Vac/ion AA, ion AA/ methyl methacrylate and ion AA/N-vinylpyrolidone grafts on polyvinyl alcohol, DAA/AA graft on partially hydrolysed poly Vac, ion AA graft on gelatin, and DAA and DAA/ethyl acrylate grafts on methyl hydroxypropyl cellulose (in which AA is acrylamide, DAA is diacetone acrylamide, Vac is vinylacetate and ion AA is isopropylacrylamide). The different monomers may be grafted sequentially or simultaneously preferably using a transition metal ion (e.g. V5+, Ce4+ or Cr6+ as catalyst).
