Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS4842637
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
1,130,370. 6 - Aminopenicillanic acid esters. ASTRA A.B. 8 Nov., 1966 [12 Nov., 1965], No. 48208/65. Heading C2A. The invention relates to esters of 6-aminopenicillanic acid of formula where R represents a phenacyl group which is either unsubstituted or substituted with one or more halogen atoms, C 1-6 alkyl, C 1-6 alkoxy or NO 2 groups, and their acid addition salts. The esters are prepared by reacting a salt of 6-aminopenicillanic acid and an organic or inorganic base, e.g. the sodium or triethylamine salt, with a compound of formula X-R, wherein R is as defined above and X is halogen, e.g. bromine or an organic sulphonic acid residue, e.g. p-toluene sulphonic acid residue. The resulting ester is reacted with an acid to produce the acid addition salt. Penicillins are produced by acylating the 6-amino group of the resultant ester. The phenacyl group of the penicillin may be removed by treatment with sodium or potassium thiophenoxide. Typical esters are the phenacyl, p-bromophenacyl, pmethoxyphenacyl and p-nitrophenacyl esters of 6-aminopenicillanic acid.
