1297882 Rolling; making safety floor plates NIPPON KOKAN KK 12 Jan 1971 [12 Jan 1970] 1535/71 Headings B3A and B3M [Also in Division F2] In a method of making a safety floor plate by hot rolling a lubricant is sprayed on to a patterned rolling roll or the material being rolled. The lubricant may be animal, vegetable or mineral oil or a solid lubricant containing graphite. It is mixed with water in a tank 8 and heated by a steam tube 18. The water-lubricant mixture is pumped from the tank through a solenoid valve 11 controlled by a load cell on the preceding stand of a set of stands for continuous rolling. The mixture is sprayed on to the rolls by atomizers 12, 13.
