Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS49313
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
1,252,493. Sawing. SCHLOEMANN A.G. 7 Jan., 1969 [26 Jan., 1968], No. 882/69. Heading B5L. A saw for dividing one or more workpieces W lying side-by-side in a clamping device, the saw 2 being movable whilst the clamping device is stationary, comprises upper and lower jaws 11, 17 for clamping the workpieces in a vertical direction, a stationary abutment 1b against which the workpieces are pressed in a horizontal direction by a further abutment on the upper jaw, the upper jaw being movable about a pivot 12 so that it moves exactly perpendicular to the surface of the workpiece or workpieces upon contact therewith. The saw 2 is carried by an arm 3 movable about a pivot by a pair of piston devices 4, the movement of the saw being controlled by a throttle valve. The lower jaw of the clamping device consists of a roller table 17 while the upper jaw 11 comprises elements 14b mounted by a resilient member 14c. The jaw 11 carries the further abutment 14 and is movable along guideways by piston devices 13. The upper jaw is movable about the pivot 12 by a piston device 15 and guide rod 16 supported by a bracket 1a from the casing 1 of the saw. The pivot 12 is carried at one end of a lever 5 adjustable about a fulcrum 6 by a screw device 9, 10 on the casing so that the height of the pivot can be varied to enable the upper jaw to be adjusted to the height of the workpieces. In operation, the upper jaw is lowered by the device 15 until it contacts the upper surface of the workpieces at a relatively low pressure, the adjustment of the pivot 12 having been effected to ensure that the jaw is moving exactly vertically as it contacts the workpiece. The device 13 is then actuated so that the further abutment 14 presses the workpieces against the fixed abutment 1b and thereafter the device 15 acts to clamp the workpieces with a relatively high pressure while the saw is moved to cut the workpieces. The operation of the machine is controlled by pressure switches in an hydraulic control circuit. In another embodiment, the pivot 12 for the upper jaw is carried by bushes adjustable along vertical guides.
