Japanese Patent JPS4939911
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
1,187,968. Moulding gramophone records. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 5 June, 1967 [24 June, 1966], No. 28258/66. Heading B5A. A gramophone record moulding press with opposed moulding platens, includes centrally located pin and anvil means for forming the central hole in the record during the moulding process, the pin having a circumferential cutting edge and providing, in association with the anvil means, a keyed cavity to receive and retain the moulding material removed from the record centre. A gramophone record press includes mould assemblies 6, 7, with heating and cooling channels and matrices 26, 27, carried by opposed members 10, 13 of the press. The assemblies have central matrix supporting members 41 and 52, the former threaded to a sleeve 61 and the latter to a clamp 76 attached to a rod 80 connected to a collar 79 surrounding an eccentric bearing 78 on a shaft 77. Rotation of the shaft effects a raising or lowering of the member 52. The latter has a keyed recess 100 to receive a slug of mould material cut from the record centre by a pin 28 when the mould assemblies are forced together and the pin urged downwardly by a pneumatic device acting on a rod 71. The slug is retained in the recess when the cooled record is removed from the press. The keyed recess may be provided in the cutting end of the pin, and the upper surface of the co-operating member may be plane. Alternatively the lower member (52) may have a central upstanding pin with a cutting edge to engage a central pin depending from the upper member (41) keyed to receive the slug; the keyed part may be in the lower pin and the cutting edge on the upper one. Keyed recesses of various types are described. The press may form part of an automatic apparatus in which a charge of moulding material is fed to the press and the moulded record is transferred to a flash remover and then to a record sleeve applying machine.
