Abstract:
1,111,200. Needling apparatus. SINGER CO. 26 Aug., 1966 [30 Aug., 1965], No. 10816/67. Divided out of 1,111,199. Heading D1R. Needling apparatus having a textile web support 11 and an endwise reciproratory barbed needle includes a primary actuating means for reciprocating said needle and a secondary actuating means for imparting a smaller amplitude higher frequency reciprocation to said needle. The frequency of the secondary reciprocation is preferably sufficiently high to effect reciprocation of the needle in a series of overlapping recirocatory increments. The primary actuating means comprises crank means 66 and a rotary actuator e.g. a belt driven pulley 67, and the secondary actuating means comprises an eccentric bearing 69, 73 and means e.g. motor 70 and belt 71 driving the eccentric. The method of needling forms the subject matter of Specification 1,111,199.
