Abstract:
A petroleum fraction is distilled to obtain at least a heavy distillate fraction and a light distillate fraction, said heavy fraction is treated with a straight-chain hydrocarbon-consuming micro-organism, which may be a yeast or a bacterium, and thereafter the heavy fraction is separated. The treated heavy fraction may be mixed with the light fraction.
