Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS499143
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
1,167,672. Hydrodynamic coupling; valves. VOITH GETRIEBE K.G. 20 March, 1968 [22 March, 1967], No. 13445/68. Headings F2C and F2V. The emptying of a fluid coupling or other rotary casing through discharge orifices 8 is controlled by a flexible spring steel ring 9 rotatable relative to the coupling to align holes in the ring 9 with the orifices 8. The edges of the ring 9 are supported by studs 10 which slide on a cylindrical surface of the impeller 2. The ring 9 is pivotally connected to levers 24 carried by radial rods 23. The inner end of each rod 23 carries two levers 25, 26 respectively pivoted to rings 33, 34 which are moved right by servos 35, 36 to rotate the rods 23 and ring 9 in one direction or the other. Tubes 18a, 18b project radially inward from some orifices 8 to permit partial emptying of the coupling. The ring 9 may be provided with bleed holes to permit continuous circulation through the coupling. As shown the orifices 8 pass through a ridge 11 on which the ring 9 slides. In Fig. 2 (not shown), each orifice 8 carries a bush (15) urged by a spring (17) into contact with the ring (9). In Fig. 3 (not shown), an annular boss is provided round each orifice (8) and is engaged by the ring (9). The coupling is filled through a pipe 7. The ring 9 may be of laminated construction.
