Japanese Patent JPS4992116
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
1375291 Acidic coated TiO 2 COMMONWEALTH SCIENTIFIC & INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH ORGANISATION 4 Feb 1972 [10 Feb 1971 (4)] 5399/72 Heading C1N [Also in Division C3] TiO 2 is coated with an Al compound and then treated with an acidic substance to provide acid sites on the surface. The TiO 2 may be coated with Al 2 O 3 from Al 2 (SO 4 ) 3 and NH 4 OH, or with Al silicate from Na aluminate and Na silicate. The coated TiO 2 may then be slurried at pH 3-5, e.g. using H 2 SO 4 , AlK(SO 4 ) 2 , or HAc, and then heated at 100-800‹ C. The product may further be treated with an organic substance, e.g. tallowamine, octylamine, decylamine, hexanol, or heptanol, or with a polymer which is formed in situ, e.g. from styrene, divinylbenzene + styrene, or isoprene, and ozonized. Other treating materials are listed. The TiO 2 may be treated in a mixer or fluidized bed or as a non-aqueous slurry, with solid, liquid or gaseous materials.
