Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5021734
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
1,218,807. Locking device for safety belts. AUTOINDUSTRI A.B, 29 Jan., 1968 [10 Feb., 1967; 18 May, 1967; 14 Nov., 1967], No. 4447/68. Heading A3V. A locking device for a safety belt has the belt wound on a spring loaded shaft on one end of which is a box 28 having slots 30, containing pawl members 32 which, on rapid rotation of the box, move out to engage a catch 36. In normal use a guide member 35 having a surface 37 prevents lower pawls engaging the lower catch 36. In one embodiment the member 35 is mounted on a yoke 33 suspended by bearings 31 from the annular casing 40. On retardation of the vehicle the member 35 swings out from its rest position allowing a pawl to drop into the catch 36 adjacent the surface 37. Another modification has a member 35 suspended from a single mounting on top of the casing 40. This allows the member 35 to move laterally along an inclined portion of the casing 40 at each side and out of engagement with pawls 32 on changes in the lateral speed of the vehicle, Figs. 4-6 (not shown). A further modification has a lever centrally mounted over the box which, on movement of the member 35 in which the lever is mounted, is moved into engagement with the base of the pawl 32 forcing it into engagement with a catch 36, Figs. 7-9 (not shown).
