Abstract:
The invention comprises a 10b -n-propyl steroid of the general formula in which A represents the oxygen atom of a keto group and B and C together represent a double bond and D represents a hydrogen atom or A either represents an alkoxy or an amino group or together with B represents an double bond and C and D together represent another double bond, E represents a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom in the 9a -position; and F represents the oxygen atom of a keto group or a hydrogen atom together with an hydroxyl group in the 11b -position and a process of subjecting 10b - n - propyl - estr - 4,9(11)-diene - 3,17 - dione to the action of N-bromo-succimide to obtain 9a -bromo-11b -hydroxy - 10b - n - propyl - estr - 4 - ene - 3,17-dione, oxidizing the latter to obtain 9a -bromo-10b - n - propyl - estr - 4 - ene - 3,11,17 - trione, and reducing the latter to obtain 10b -n-propylestr - 4 - ene - 3,11,17 - trione from which the 3-alkoxy and 3-enamino derivatives may be obtained by the standard techniques.
