Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5050485
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
1482953 Photopolymerizable compositions HERCULES Inc 15 Aug 1974 [16 Aug 1973] 35969/74 Addition to 1409833 Heading C3P and C3A [Also in Division G2] A photopolymerizable composition comprises (a) a water-soluble, thermoplastic, amine substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose having an hydroxypropyl MS of at least 2, (b) from 0À5 to 25% by weight of the hydroxy propyl cellulose of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer having its unsaturation in the form of at least two groups per molecule where R is hydrogen or a C 1 -C 3 group, and (c) from 0À1 to 10% by weight of the hydroxypropyl cellulose of a photoinitiator thermally stable at temperatures of up to 180‹ C. The composition may also contain up to 55% by weight of an inert particulate filler transparent to actinic light; this is preferably silica of particle size less than one micron. The hydroxypropyl cellulose preferably has an MS of 3 to 5 and a molecular weight of 20,000 to 1,200,000. The amine may be tertiary aminoalkyl or dialkylamino alkyl. Some of those compounds may be prepared by hydroxy propylation of the products obtained by reacting cellulose with 3 - dialkylamino - 1 - halohydroxypropanes. The unsaturated compounds exemplified are pentaerythritoltriacylate; 1,3,5-triacryloylhexahydro - 1,3,5 - triazine; N,N1 - oxydimethylenebis(acrylamide); N,N1 - methylene - bis- (acrylamide) and tetraethylene glycol dimethacrylate. The preferred photoinitiator is benzophenone. A phenolic stabilizer, preferably 7,6-di-tert.- butyl-p-cresol, may also be added.
