1466462 Anthracene derivatives CIBAGEIGY AG 11 April 1974 [17 April 1973 20 Feb 1974] 16079/74 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula (A=optionally substituted 1- or 2-[9,10-dihydro - 9,10 - ethano(or etheno)anthryl]; R 1 =H, alkyl; R 2 =H, alkyl, aralkyl, optionally functionally modified carboxyalkyl; or R 1+2 = divalent hydrocarbon radical of aliphatic character optionally interrupted by hetero atoms and/or substituted) and their acid addition salts are prepared by standard methods, e.g. reacting the corresponding oxiranylmethoxydihydroethanoanthracene and amine. The preparation of the starting materials and parent hydroxydihydroethanoanthracenes is described. The above compounds potentiate narcotics, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical and veterinary preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
