Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5072889
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
1482945 Corona discharge reactors UNION CARBIDE CORP 7 Aug 1974 [13 Aug 1973] 34874/74 Heading H5H Corona discharge zones 15, 16, 17 are connected in series with heat exchangers 20, 21 between each pair and operated such that a reactant gas (oxygen; nitrogen, hydrocarbon mentioned) removes all excess heat from each zone, each heat exchanger removes all the excess heat from the gas before reaching a subsequent zone, the gas temperature being reduced by at least 100‹ C., and the power consumption in each zone being maintained in the range 100 to 100,000 watts per 0À0929 square metres of discharge electrode surface. Heat exchangers and corona generating cells are conventional (examples described). Electrode separation is 0À0025 to 13 mm., gas pressure 35 to 3500 g. per sq. cm., current 50 to 100,000 Hz and 1000 to 30,000 peak volts.
