1453666 Sheet separating and ordering apparatus: containers INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 17 Sept 1974 [7 Nov 1973] 40347/74 Headings B8R and B8P A cartridge comprises a slot 426 in the bottom thereof (Fig. 8 view is inverted) into which sheets (e.g. tickets) may be fed when the cartridge is in a stacker station, and a further slot 428 in the front wall 408 thereof through which sheets may be fed from the cartridge when the latter is in a hopper station. A spring urged block 406 maintains a stack in contact with lips 422, 424 at the bottom of the cartridge. Sheets may be manually inserted by bending them so that they spring past these lips, Fig. 9 (not shown). The stacker station, Fig. 10, comprises nip rollers 172 and 174 for forwarding a sheet into the cartridge and a stacker roller 176 to complete the stacking. The roller 176 is mounted on a swing arm for movement into engagement with the stack when required. The table 354 upon which the cartridge rests in the stacker station comprises a raised portion (354a, Fig. 12, not shown) which passes between lips 422 and 424 and supports the stack. The stacker station includes a switch which is actuated upon placement of an empty cartridge on table 354 to energise the mechanism for feeding sheets into the cartridge which switch is de-activated when the cartridge is full. The hopper station, Fig. 14 includes a throat knife 298 which enters the bottom of the cartridge and co-operates with a roller 300 to define an exit slot, and a friction feed roller 136 mounted on a swing arm for movement to and from the stack. Nip rollers 124 and 126 forward the separated sheet.
