Abstract:

1,271,295. Slide projectors. HONEYWELL Inc. Sept.8, 1969 [Sept. 13, 1968], No.44318/69. Heading G2A. In a slide projector with a magazine adapted for automatic mechanical insertion and withdrawal of slides, two slides are simultaneously removed from the magazine, one to a "preview" position and the other to a "show" position. Two slides are simultaneously partially ejected from magazine 86 by rotation of rocker arm 108 by cam 128 driven through gears by motor 18, before they are gripped by a mechanism 90 having two jaws (144), (146) Fig. 7 (not shown) biased to hold the slides one on each side of central partition 180. Gripper mechanism 90 is driven to the right in Fig. 3 on slider 210 by crank arm 230, crank slide 92 and motor 18 and when the "preview" position is reached stops 274, 276 free one slide from the gripper mechanism 90 which continues to the right to the "show" position where stops 278 and 280 free the second slide to leave it in the "show" position. Parallel guide channels are provided in upper and lower guide-plates 202, 244, and 250, 252 respectively the lower plates being spring mounted to accommodate different slide sizes. On return of gripper 90 to the left, the "show" slide is re-engaged and pushed to the left until adjacent the "preview" slide when slide return arm 234 is rotated clockwise by engagement with cam 238 thereby freeing the show slide from gripper 90 and pushing both slides together into the magazine 86. This arrangement allows magazine 86 to be indexed by one "slide" in either direction before another cycle begins. The indexing mechanism of Specification 1,271,296 is referred to. Shutter blades (350), (352) Fig. 5 (not shown) may be automatically simultaneously moved from their closed position in front of the "preview" and "show" apertures.
