Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5132678
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
A graft polymer has a backbone consisting of an at least partially dehydrochlorinated homopolymer of vinyl chloride or an at least partially dehydrochlorinated copolymer or interpolymer of which at least 70% by weight consists of vinyl chloride units and the remainder of different units containing the grouping and side chains directly attached to points in the backbone, which side chains do not contain vinyl chloride units but comprise polymers whose constituent monomers also contain the grouping Specified side-chain monomers include acrylate and methacrylate esters, ethylene, styrene, vinyl acetate, dibutyl itaconate and diethyl fumarate. In the examples, dehydrochlorinated polyvinyl chloride is swollen in a monomerinitiator solution and the polymerization is then carried out in aqueous suspension. The monomers used are styrene, methyl acrylate and vinyl acetate.
