Abstract:
Cpds. of formula (I): (where R is H or CONHR1; R1 is H, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, phenoxyalkyl, cycloalkyl(alkyl), or bicycloalkyl(alkyl) with 0-3 alkyl gps. on the cycloalkyl rings, or aryl or aralkyl with 0-3 alkyl, alkoxy, CF3 and/or halogen gps. on the benzene rings; X is aryl, furyl, thienyl or pyridyl with 0-3 alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, alkenyloxy, alkoxyalkoxy, CF3 and/or halogen gps. on the rings, or a heterocyclic gp. of formula: where R" and R"' are H, halogen, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl with 0-3 alkyl, alkoxy, CF3 and/or halogen gps. on the rings; Z is O, or N opt. substd. by alkyl or aryl or aralkyl with 0-3 alkyl, alkoxy, CF3 and/or halogen gps. on the ring; Y is equal to O (I.e. a direct bond) or is 1-8C alkylene; n = 0-4; all alkyl, alkoxy and alkenyl gps. are "lower") are prepd. by heating (pref. at 40 degrees C to the b.p. of the solvent) or irradiating (pref. with UV) cpds. (II): Cpds. (I) are hypoglycaemic agents.
