1444185 Metering liquid HITACHI Ltd and TOYO KOGYO CO Ltd 23 July 1973 [24 July 1972] 35009/73 Heading B8N [Also in Division F1] A metering device for supplying a measured quantity of antifreeze solution to a rotary I.C. engine for low-temperature starting comprises a metering chamber 27 disposed in a pump suction line, as shown, or discharge line, Fig. 2 (not shown), a member 28 being movable with small side clearance in the chamber from the initial position shown to a final position closing the chamber outlet during a single operating cycle of the pump. As shown, the chamber 28 is mounted in the bottom of a reservoir 21 and connected to a pump 23 driven by an electric motor 24 actuated by an ignition switch 32 when an engine temperature sensor 35 senses a sufficiently low temperature. The pump delivery line has a check valve 29. Member 28 may float or be biased upwardly by a spring. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the member moves upwardly between its initial and final positions.
