1392260 Zeolite catalyst HOWE-BAKER ENGS Inc 27 June 1973 [21 Sept 1972] 30584/73 Heading C1A [Also in Division C5] A metal exchanged zeolite is made by exchanging an aluminosilicate zeolite with a dilute aqueous solution of a salt of copper chromium or tin until the zeolite contains 5 to 20% by wt. of the metal, rinsing with water, drying at 80‹ to 150‹ C. for 2 to 6 hours, heating to 500‹ C. over a period of 4 to 8 hours, calcining at 500‹ to 700‹ C. for 6 to 12 hours and cooling to ambient temperature over a period of 3 to 6 hours. The aluminosilicate zeolite may have the formula 0À9Œ0À2M 2 / n :Al 2 O 3 :xSiO 2 where M is hydrogen or mono- or di-valent metal cations, n is the valency of M and x is from 1À5 to 12.
