1332286 Laminated belt RBH CYBERNETICS (1970) Ltd 19 April 1972 [9 June 1971] 18205/72 Heading B5N An elongate belt for use in picking up liquids comprises at least one layer of a strong material imparting strength to the belt and at least one layer of liquid absorbent material joined to the strong material by stitching arranged only along parallel V-shaped rows 7, 8, having their apices 9 at the centre of the belt so that the only stitching at the edges 11 of the belt is that at the end of the rows. The rows may be arranged in pairs as shown or may be equally spaced (Fig. 4, not shown). In the former case the apex of the row 7 is preferably in transverse alignment with the outer end of the adjacent row 8. The strong material may be canvas and the absorbent material may be terry cloth. A plurality of layers of absorbent material may be used. The belt may be formed into an endless belt by forming the ends into mating V-forms and sewing with a row or rows of stitching similar to the rows 7, 8. The endless belt can be used to convey liquids which are removed by passing the belt through rollers (Fig. 1, not shown).
