1459737 Preparation of 1,4-naphthaquinone BAYER AG 21 May 1975 [2 Aug 1974] 21830/75 Heading C2C The invention comprises a process for the preparation of 1,4-naphthaquinone by passage of a gaseous mixture of naphthalene and oxygen over a vanadium containing catalyst at a temperature of 300-400 C. characterized in that immediately prior to the passage of said gaseous mixture over the catalyst the catalyst is pretreated with a stream of molecular oxygen at 300-400 C. in the absence of organic compounds.
