Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5521195
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
1352109 Reciprocating pumps F C GREER 13 June 1972 [18 June 1971] 27637/72 Heading F1A A liquid piston pump, e.g. for pumping sandcontaminated high-viscosity oil from a well, or mud or acid, comprises a tube 37 containing a bucket piston reciprocated by a sucker rod string 21, the space above the piston being connected through passage 29 to a conduit 55 connected to a check-valve controlled inlet 63, a pumping liquid, e.g. kerosene, in tube 37 and conduit 55 forming an interface with the well liquid in conduit 55, and reciprocation of the bucket piston causing reciprocation of the interface to pump well liquid from inlet 63 to an outlet tubing 17 via a check-valve 67. Make-up pumping liquid is supplied to tube 37 below the bucket piston via the interior of the sucker rod string, Figs. 3a and 3b (not shown), or through tubing 15. Gas from the well liquid collects in conduit 55 and, when sufficiently pressurized, passes through a check-valve and filter assembly 71 into a chamber 77 from which it is discharged into the well liquid below outlet valve 67 via pipe 81, another filter and a spring-loaded check-valve (83), Fig. 3b (not shown). Some of the make-up liquid in tubing 15 may be injected into the well, via a check-valve and nozzle (103), Fig. 8 (not shown), to dilute the well liquid. The check-valves may be ball-type or poppet-type. The bucket pump may be double-acting. Tubing 17 may be omitted and the well tubing 13 used for the discharged well liquid.
