Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5525296
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
1306767 Electromagnetic clutch/brake assembly; friction clutches; clutch-brake combinations WARNER ELECTRIC BRAKE & CLUTCH CO 27 July 1971 [5 Aug 1970] 35191/71 Headings F2C F2E and F2L In an electromagnetic clutch and/or brake assembly, an axially movable first ring 56, brought into engagement with an axially fixed second ring 63 is supported on an axially fixed support ring 59 by angularly spaced chordally extending leaf springs 23 secured at opposite ends to the first ring and support ring respectively, the springs biasing the first and second rings apart; pins 36 rigid with the first ring slidably extend through parallel holes in the support ring and a stop member 41 which frictionally engages either of each hole or each pin lies between opposed abutments 45, 46 supplied by the other of the hole and pin, one abutment engaging each stop member upon ring engagement to move the member along the axis, if wear has taken place between the rings, the other abutment engaging the member to limit retraction of the first ring as the frictional axial resistance of the stop members is greater than the spring force. The abutments 45, 46 may be carried by the support ring 59, formed by a groove or slot (as shown), or carried by the pins 36, Fig. 10. The first ring 56 is fixed to the springs 23 by riveting of the pin ends, and the springs are fixed to the support ring 59 by rivets 84. Fig. 11 shows a brake and clutch assembly. A further axially movable ring 55 is coupled to the support ring 59 in a similar manner to ring 56, the support ring being mounted on a rotating shaft 62. Ring 56 coacts with a non-rotating ring 63 containing the electromagnet 63a to form the brake, and ring 55 coacts with a ring 65 rotating on a shaft 72 to form the clutch, the ring 65 rotating within a non-rotating electromagnet 60.
