Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS572321
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
In a process for making moulded shoes an elastomeric shoe sole is moulded directly onto the upper and a strip of material is fixed to the lower edge of the upper together with mounting cord, the process being carried out in a segmented mould which is preferably deformed to allow precise placing of the upper in the mould. The mounting cord may be sewn onto the edge of the upper or onto the band of material which is in turn attached to the upper. The band of material is preferably of a rigid elastomer, such as vulcanised or unvulcanised rubber or a thermoplastic. It may be of expanded rubber with closed cells and is preferably of the same material as the sole so that they may be bonded during moulding. The process yields shoes of improved quality at a lower cost of fabrication.
