Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5754134
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
The ski brake (1) has a holder (2) mountable on a ski (11) and a braking device pivotably mounted on this holder. On the braking device, it is possible to recognise a pedal (4, 6) consisting of a supporting member and of an actuating flap (6), in which pedal two braking arms (10) are rotatably mounted, and an erector spring (8). By depressing the pedal (4, 6) by means of a ski boot or a sole plate, the two braking arms (10) are initially pivoted, together with the pedal (4, 6), into a plane above the top (11a) of the ski. As a result of subsequent full depression of the actuating flap (6) relative to the supporting member (4), the individual braking arms (10) each experience a rotational movement about their longitudinal axes, as a result of which their free end regions also come to rest within the width of the ski (11). This is the readiness position or inactive position of the ski brake (1). After removal of the ski boot or of the soleplate, the erector spring (8) comes into action, the two braking arms (10) first being pivoted outwards and the entire braking device then being pivoted downwards. This is the braking or active position of the ski brake (1). The actuating flap (6) is supported on the supporting member (4) with the interposition of a further spring. As a result the two braking arms (10) move into their positions outside the width of the ski at an earlier stage, before the erector spring (8) could pivot them downwards. Catching of the braking arms (10) on the lateral edges of the ski (11) is reliably avoided.
