USE: Having antitumor action, useful as an intermediate for compounds having various kinds of physiological activities by introducing diverse groups into OH group at the 11-position of the substance.
PROCESS: T-23-II substance shown by the formula III obtained by cultivating Streptomyces rishiriensis T-23 strain (FERM-P 6141) is dissolved in an organic solvent such as tetrahydrofuran, etc., cooled to -15°C, reduced with litium aluminum hydride, so that the side chain containing a cyclohexane ring at the 11- position of the compound shown by the formula III is removed to give a compound shown by the formulaIor II.
