PURPOSE: To prevent the damage of an original, by providing an original placing plate end part holding member, which is moved together with an original placing plate, in the end part of the original placing plate to prevent the set original from being grought into contact with materials other than the member which is moved together with the original placing plate.

CONSTITUTION: An original placing plate end part holding member 13 is bent to a rear face 121 of the slide face of an original placing plate sliding holding member 12 so as to cover the end part of a light-transmissive member 4. Consequently, when the light-transmissive member 4 is moved, the end part holding member 13 fixed to the light-transmissive member 4 is moved together, and a large-sized original 15 set on the original setting face is scanned and moved without being brought into contact with the original placing plate sliding holding member 12 and the machine body, and thus, the movement and the damage of the original itself are prevented.
