PURPOSE: To impart high flame retardance and arc resistance and to obtain a compsn. suitable for use in the prouduction of electrical parts, by blending a polyphenylene sulfide resin,a flame retarder, a reinforcing filler, etc. with a thermoplastic polyester resin.
CONSTITUTION: 20W95pts.wt. thermoplastic polyester resin such as polyethylene terephthalate, 0.2W5pts.wt. polyphenylene sulfide resin having a repeating unit of formulaI(wherein n is an integer), 0.5W50pts.wt. flame retarder and 0W 65pts.wt. reinforcing filler such as glass fiber or talc are mixed together to obtain the desired flame-retardant, arc-resistant resin compsn. As said flame retarder, halogenated polyphenylene oxide compds. of formula II (wherein X is Br, Cl; a is 1W4) and halogen-contg. S-triazine compds. are preferred.
