PURPOSE: To enable the deflection of a beam to be performed with high efficiency, and reduce the power of a flat cathode-ray tube by providing low-resistance layers with a thickness of under a given value on terminal-leading-out parts which supply voltage to the surfaces of deflecting plates, on the facing surfaces of said deflecting plates, and at connection parts between said facing surfaces and said terminal-leading-out parts.
CONSTITUTION: Electrostatic deflecting plates 9a and 9b also serving as internal pole pieces, are prepared from a Ni-Zn ferrite. A metal such as Ni or Cr is fixed in a thickness of below 8μ, for example, in 3W4μ thickness so as to form low- resistance layers 60 on at least the facing surfaces 9a1 and 9b1 of the deflecting plates 9a and 9b, terminal-leading- out parts used for supplying signals to the deflecting plates 9a and 9b, and at the connection parts between the terminal-leading-out parts and the facing surfaces 9a1 and 9b1. In addition, the deflecting plates 9a and 9b which are made of the Ni-Zn ferrite and also serve as the internal pole pieces, are directly fixed with frit to a given part of the inner surface of a flat tube body 1. As a result, the power of a flat cathode-ray tube can be re duced with a simple constitution.
