Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a polyolefin foam having excellent flexibility, elasticity and surface appearance, by blending a small amount of a specific butene copolymer to a highly crystalline polyolefin resin having high heat resistance, and foaming the blend.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 60W88wt% propylene-ethylene block copolymer having a melt index of 0.5W2.0 and ethylene content of 5W15% is blended with (B) 1W 20% polybutene or butene copolymer having a melt index of 2W10 and (C) 1W 20wt% low-density polyethylene having a melt index of 2W10. The mixture is mixed with a volatile foaming agent (e.g. methyl chloride) and extruded in air or in a zone having reduced pressure by uncrosslinked extrusion foaming process to effect the foaming of the blend.
