USE: Synthetic intermediate of secretin useful as an agent for testing pancreatic function, remerdy for duodenal ulcer, etc.
PROCESS: The protected secretin of formulaIcan be prepared by condensing the fragment of formula III (Y is H or benzyloxycarbonyl) with the fragment of formula IV, and condensing the resultant fragment with the fragment of formula V. All protecting groups of the compound of formulaIcan be removed easily, in one step, at a low temperature in a short time, by treating the compound with a strong acid such as trifluoromethanesulfonic acid, hydrogen fluoride, etc., and the highly active and pure secretin can be obtained in high yield by the purification of the product.
