PURPOSE: To produce automatically an index, by supplying KANA (Japanese syllabary) with voices or keys to produce the documents and sorting these documents on the basis of key words in case these key words are detected through comparison with a dictionary to give addresses to the sorted documents.

CONSTITUTION: The document is produced with an input given through a keyboard 2 or a mike 3 and then compared with a dictionary 51 after KANA- Chinese character conversion 5. This document is displayed at a display part 7 via a display control part 6. A flag is set up at an entry of the word that is used as a key words (an index) of the dictionary 51, and a word with a flag if indexed is stored automatically in an index storing region of a data base 11. When the production is over for a document, the document is stored together with an address in a text storing region. Thus the documents are sorted as soon as they are produced. This system is suitable for production of clinical charts.
