PURPOSE: To form an embossed pattern by fitting a cylindrical body to be worked to one of a pair of embossing rolls provided with symmetric rugged pattern on outer circumferences, pressure contacting another roll onto the outer face of the cylindrical body matching the pattern phase, and rotating the rolls in opposite direction.

CONSTITUTION: An end of an arm 2 is pivoted to a frame 1 allowing free rotation. The ends of a pair of embossing rolls 3, 4 having smaller outer diameter than inner diameter of a cylinder to be worked and provided with symmetric rugged patterns 31, 41 on outer peripheral faces are pivoted to the frame 1 and arm 2 at corresponding positions at specified distance from the pivotal part. A rotating device 32 that rotates the rolls 3, 4 in opposite direction at the same speed is connected to the rolls 3, 4. An embossed pattern is formed on the cylindrical body by rotating the rolls 3, 4.
