PURPOSE: To avoid the waste of recording material, by giving an alarm at the transmitter side in case the size of the recording paper loaded to the receiver side is not coincident with the transmitting conditions after detecting the size of the recording paper.

CONSTITUTION: When the transmitting side transmits a status request, the receiving side sends its status to the transmitting side. Now a function key F1 is pushed on a screen at the transmitting side to obtain a "SOSHIN (transmission)" mode, and a function key F2 is pushed to display "HONSHA (head office)". Furthermore a function key F0 is pushed to set a magnification ratio. Under such conditions, the size of the paper loaded at the remote side is detected at the transmitting side. Then the coincidence is checked between the paper size and the transmitting conditions. If no coincidence is obtained, the discordance is displayed. While "SOSHIN DEKIMASU (transmission possible)" is displayed when the coincidence is obtained.
