PURPOSE: To perform magnetic separation efficiently and to save electric power, by providing a filler consisting of a magnetic material and magnetic pole used for magnetizing the filler to the inside of a filter housing through which a fluid to be treated passes.
CONSTITUTION: Each permanent magnet 12 placed between two sheets of perforated plates 11 made of mild steel is provided to the inside of a filter housing 1, through which a fluid to be treated passes. Magnetic poles constructed as mentioned above are installed in the filter housing 1 in a state that the magnetic poles are arranged at intervals of prescribed gaps. Fillers 4 consisting of shaved wire materials are housed in the gaps of these magnetic poles respectively. DC electromagnetic coils 13 for exciting respective electrodes are provided to the outside of the housing 1, and are respectively connected to an electric power supply 5 used for the excitation. 14s denotes a return frame. When the magnetic pole is excited by applying magnetmotive force to the coil 13 with the aids of a permanent magnet 12, a magnetic field of about 2,500 gausses is generated even after stopping the application of electric current to the DC electromagnetic coil.
