Abstract:
PURPOSE: To increase greatly the recording density of a magnetic tape, by giving different recording angles to adjacent tracks.
CONSTITUTION: The gap 3 of each head has an angle θ of inclination to the axis orthogonal to the traveling direction of a magnetic tape, and at the same time the direction of inclination is adverse to each other between adjacent gaps. When data is recorded on a magnetic tape 4 with such above-mentioned recording/reproducing head, eight recording tracks 5W12 are formed on the tape 4. Thus the crosstalk produced from adjacent tracks in reproduction time can be reduced less so that it can be ignored by an azimuth loss since the recording angle 14 is adverse to each other between the adjacent tracks.
