Abstract:
PURPOSE:To effectively remove Fe(III) ion and added chlorine ion, without reducing iron content in a plating liquid, by adding a chlorine ion-donating agent to the plating liquid containing Fe(III) ion, and circulating the plating liquid through a reducing column packed with silver. CONSTITUTION:In Fe-Zn electroplating or the like, a proper amount of a plating liquid is injected into a mixing tank 3, when the concentration of Fe(III) ion in the plating liquid inside a tank 1 exceeds an allowable value. On the other hand, a necessary amount of sodium chloride is injected from a tank 2 into the mixing tank 3 and mixed therein with said plating liquid. This mixed liquid is circulated through a Fe(III) ion-reducing column 71 packed with silver, so that Fe(III) ion is reduced into Fe(II) ion and removed from the mixed liquid and that the added chlorine ion is converted into silver chloride adherent to silver and removed from the liquid. When the capacity of the reducing column 71 is saturated, the circulation of the plating liquid is switched from the reducing column 71 to 72, and the reducing column 72 is used. By this method, Fe(III) ion can be removed together with the added chlorine ion at a low cost without entailing the reduction of iron content in the plating liquid.
