Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce a meshing noise by inwardly pressing the chain prior to engagement against a sprocket and causing an engagement control member which releases the pressure prior to the engagement to engage with the chain. CONSTITUTION:Before a bush 5 meshes in the tooth bottom 2b1 of the sprocket 2, the top 5b'1 of a link plate 5b1 rides on a roller 10 and is inwardly pushed out as shown by arrow A. Upon this occasion, the bush 5a1 does not make contact with the tooth bottom 2b1, but oppose the same with a slight gap therebetween. Accompanied by the rotation of the sprocket 2 toward the direction shown by arrow C, the bush 56 moves rightwardly, and immediately before the chain 5 comes into collision with the sprocket 2, that is, immediately before the bush 5a1 comes into collision the tooth bottom 2b1, the link plate 5b1 rides over the roller 10. In accordance with this movement, the link plate 5b1 moves (moves away with respect to the sprocket 2) while returning to the normal chain meshing line bc as shown by arrow B.
