Title:
SAFETY VALVE FOR LIQUEFIED PROPANE GAS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5824667
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To shut off a gas passage in the casing of a safety valve under vibration such as an earthquake to prevent the discharge of gas, by providing a vibration-sensitive mechanism located in the gas passage and including a metal ball which can be attracted on a valve seat by a magnet. CONSTITUTION:The casing 5 of a safety valve is mounted just near a liquefied gas cylinder. A vibration-sensitive mechanism, which comprises an upper and a lower magnets 10, 12 and a metal ball 8 located in a cylindrical spacer 6 between the magnets, is provided in the center of the lower part of the casing 5 of the safety valve. Normally, gas flows into a joint 7 in the direction of an arrow in the drawing. When the safety valve casing 5 is inclined beyond a set angle by vibration or the like, the metal ball 8 is attracted on a valve seat 11 by the upper magnet 10 to stop the flow of the gas. When the joint 7 is damaged by a dropped thing or the like at the occurrence of an earthquake, the gas excessively flows temporarily so that the metal ball 8 is attracted by the upper magnet 10 to close the valve seat 11 to stop the flow of the gas.
