Title:
FORMATION OF SHELL CORE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5835042
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method for forming cores which permits removal of blow ports in one touch after forming of the cores by providing the blow ports for shell sand on the side parts of the cavities of dies for forming shell cores.

CONSTITUTION: Dies for formation of shell cores are constituted of a top part and a bottom part 2 parted by a parting line 3 and the cavities 4, 5 between the parts 1, 2. Blow ports 6 for the purpose of blowing shell sand into the cavities 4, 5 are provided approximately vertically in the side parts of the cavities 4, 5, and sand grooves 7 for the purpose of distributing the shell sand supplied into the ports 6 into the cavities 4, 5 are provided along the line 3 in the botoom end parts of the ports 6. For example, in the case of manufacturing cores 8 for water jackets for engines, shell sand is blown through the sand grooves 7 provided in the side parts of the straight line parts viewed flatly. Therefore the traces of the grooves 7 remaining slightly in the traces where the grooves 7 are broken off from the cores 8 are finished easily simply by using tools such as files.
