PURPOSE: To make a catalyst carrier suitable for a catalyst for the treatment of an exhaust gas or various reactions, by a method wherein a monocrystalline fiber having a definite diameter or less is used as the carrier and, on the surface of this carrier, a catalyst component is formed in a film like form and the obtained catalyst is molded.
CONSTITUTION: A single crystal fiber (whisker) having a diameter of 0.3μ or less is used as a carrier and, on the surface of this carrier, a catalyst component is formed in a uniform film like form to obtain a catalyst. The obtained whisker catalyst itself is baked or adhered to be molded into a pellet, a block or a board forms and the molded one is applied to the treatment of an exhaust gas or various reactions.
