Abstract:

PURPOSE: To transfer a steel plate right after hot rolling to a width direction and improving rolling efficiency by providing a hardening device between a hot rolling line and a steel plate conveying line.

CONSTITUTION: After a steel plate 9 on a hot rolling line 1 is stopped in a prescribed position, it is supplied to a hardening device 3 installed between the line 1 and a conveying line 2. At this time, the steel plate 9 on the line 1 is transferred in the direction at a right angle to the rolling direction in the position, thus the width of the steel plate is the length during hardening. In the device 3, the plate 9 is cooled by the water sprayed from the many spray pipes 10 installed between rollers 7 having annular projections 8 while it moves on the rollers 7. The hardened plate 9 is returned again to the original hot rolling line by the transfer device provided on the lower stream side of the line 2 and is conveyed to the next stage.
