Abstract:

PURPOSE: To weld a work continuously and automatically by a welding method most suitable for the weld zones of the work by selecting the welding method by means of a teaching device or a keyboard switch.

CONSTITUTION: If it is assumed that a work STEP 1 is to be welded by a pulse arc welding method and a work STEP 2 by a short arc welding method, the same teaching as in the prior art is performed with a teaching device 3 in the STEP 1; thereafter, the welding method is selected with a keyboard switch 20 and the pulse arc welding method is taught in the central control part of a control board 1. In the stage of welding, the selection of the pulse arc welding method is displayed on the CRT 2 of the board 1. Contacts 16 close and an electromagnetic contactor 15 is energized, by which the control circuit of a welding power source 14 is changed over to the pulse arc welding method and the pulse arc welding is executed. When the short arc welding method is taught in the same manner in the STEP 2, the selection of the short arc welding method is displayed on the CRT 2 of the board 1 in the welding stage, and the short arc welding is executed.
