Title:
MANUFACTURE OF POWDER METALLURGICAL PARTS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5848610
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make the manufacture of high-density sintered bodies possible in the stage of producing sintered products of intricate shapes by a powder metallurgical method by setting the sizes of the powder metals of raw materials and the molding pressure by hydrostatic pressure at specific values.

CONSTITUTION: The metallic powder to be sintered is used in the state of fine spherical powder of ≤20μm grain sizes, and is packed in elastic molds, then the powder is pressurized and molded with a hydrostatic press of 3W6tons/cm2 pressure. The resultant powder moldings are heated and sintered in a reducing atmosphere of a vacuum or reduced pressure to remove the gases trapped in the surfaces and holes of the powder and the oxides interfered of diffusion at grain boundaries efficiently, whereby the sintered bodies of intricate shapes having density higher than 96% and excellent mechanical strength characteristics are produced.
