Abstract:
Support (10) for a steering column of a motor vehicle. The steering column provided with a wheel is housed in a passage of the support so as to be subjected to a rotation motion about its axis by means of its wheel. Said support (10) is arranged to be fixed on the body of a motor vehicle to maintain the steering column in a fixed position with respect to the body of the vehicle by means of fixing devices (26, 28, 30, 42) ensuring, during the normal utilization of the vehicle, said fixed position of the steering column with respect to the body of the vehicle, and in case of an impact of the vehicle against an obstacle, the displacement with energy consumption of the support with respect to the body of the vehicle under the impact of the body of the driver against the steering wheel. A disconnector means (32) for the electric supply of electric members of the vehicle is actuated by the displacement of the support with respect to the body of the vehicle in case of an impact.
