Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enhance elasticity and heat resistance and to enable spinning into a filament by blending prescribed percentages of SiO2, Al2O3, MgO, CaO, TiO2, BaO, SrO, R2O and oxide of a rare earth element.
CONSTITUTION: The titled composition consists of, by weight, 45W70% SiO2, 20W35% Al2O3, 2W17% MgO, 6W21% CaO (MgO+CaO=10W23%), 0W6% TiO2, 0W10% BaO+SrO, 0W1% R2O, 0W10% oxide of a rare earth element and ≤1% impurities. This glass composition has high elasticity and heat resistance and is easily spun into a filament.
